Directions for prevention (35) During typhoon, move to a room with few windows

Did you know that there are certain seasons when tornadoes are more likely to occur? According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, typhoons and fronts are common from July through November, peaking in September.

If a tornado warning is issued while you are at home, close the windows and curtains in your room and move to a room with fewer windows or to a space away from windows. Closing the curtains will reduce the scattering of glass fragments if the window breaks.

If your windows have shutters or storm shutters, they will provide additional security. When a gust of wind enters a room, the pressure inside the building increases, making the roof more likely to be blown off. Shutters and storm shutters protect not only your windows, but also your roof.

Another effective measure is to put shatterproof film on windows. The effect is not limited to tornadoes and typhoons. It helps to move smoothly outdoors without fear of hurting your feet on glass shards in the event of an earthquake.
